We set off from Barlborough at 8am in fog. I didn’t bother with lights this year as I didn’t think I would be out late as James isn’t cycling with me but didn’t plan for fog!
By the time we got to our first food stop at Bingham it was starting to brighten up. We then headed to Oakham by which time the sun really started to burn! Oakham is a lovely place where we found the Castle Cottage Cafe and had a cream team. We also skirted Rutland water which looks like its worth a visit. We then stopped at a shop at Bulwick where we met an interesting guy who told us all about his wife’s jam- including a cuban mojito jam that wakes the dead! We headed down to Huntingdon with the weather getting hotter! Overall a 96 mile day which was very enjoyable – we all finished together and we are all ready for another long day tomorrow.
