Cloudy day which was very welcome. Good night at Media City Uk the night before complete with fireworks. Set off in the morning and saw some people doing the Race for Life – well done to all who took part!
We went to Manchester and then down to Stockport. Busy route down the A6 through Disley before I had an 8 mile detour as I took the wrong turning at Chapel-en-le-frith. Eventually made it back past the Chestnut Centre and the long time before the scary descent to Castleton. Nice ride and lunch stop there before heading through Hope to Hathersage and a very long climb!
Then through Dronfield, Eckington and the long climb up Renishaw Hill to Barlborough and the Ibis. Then attended a fundraiser at the Ashlea Club in Clowne. Great night. The Joe Root shirt raised money as did the Matt Lowton shirt and thanks very much to Matt as well as mum and dad Lisa and Dave, and brother Glenn for coming down. The Marriott golf prizes also went down well. All in all we raised £1600 to share between Tower 2 Tower charities and the local Bluebell Hospice. Many thanks to all who attended plus Rob, Amanda and all the staff and locals at the Ashlea. Special thanks to Grant and Marianne for their support of the event and the Bluebell Hospice. A great night and experience for all of us!
