Healthcare provider, Simplyhealth has donated £2,880 to Challenge 4 Change as a means of supporting Manchester’s disengaged youth.
The funds will go towards four sessions called ‘Teams not Gangs’, which are education programmes designed to engage with young people who are or on the verge of becoming involved in gang activity and crime.
“We are very grateful that Simplyhealth has chosen to support us again this year. The funding will enable more young people to benefit from the ‘Teams not Gangs’ programme which illustrates the choices young people may be faced with at critical stages in their lives when they are not always best equipped to make the right decisions.”
Sabeeya Dawood, from Challenge 4 Change
With space for 15 young people, each session focuses on providing alternative ways to help young people into further education, training and sporting opportunities and away from gang culture or crime. The sessions also feature factual accounts of life in prison from both ex and current prisoners, family members and prison officers to show young people real life examples of the effect gang culture can have.
“We are delighted to be able to continue our partnership with Challenge 4 Change for another year. We believe that the charity makes a positive difference to young people in our community and the ‘Teams not Gangs’ sessions really can help to improve and change the lives of young people in the area.”
James Glover, spokesperson for Simplyhealth
