The national charity, based in Trafford is the latest third sector organisation to benefit from Challenge 4 Change’s Oglesby Fund; a fund donated by Bruntwood’s Oglesby Trust.
Participants who attended Challenge 4 Change, took part in a structured team building session, which quickly became a prominent feature within their Skillstep programme they were undertaking. >>Skillstep is a 12 week course designed to help build your confidence and move into employment, volunteering or further education.
Here’s what they had to say about it;
“It was exciting, a challenge and a learning experience”
“When we were up on the platform I couldn’t see anyway, so I took a leap of faith. I put one foot in front of the other and just did it, I just got on with it, there was no turning back. It’s a bit like life, really, you just get on with it”
“I hated it, I found it terrifying, but it’s really helped me to find my voice! I feel much more confident in speaking up about things that matter to me now”
The opinion was divided amongst the group about whether the 35ft high aerial trek would be scarier if you could see what you were doing or if it was scarier to take the leap without seeing how far up you were! The group really bonded on the day, helped each other and really developed confidence in their abilities.
The group had differing levels of sight, some had only peripheral or central vision, and others have no sight at all. The day was indeed a real challenge, but all members of the group had a positive experience.
Well done to all participants and trust the learning gained through the session with hold you in good stead for the rest of your studies.
