Our Chief Executive, along with a number of other volunteers, are cycling from Blackpool to Paris to raise funds for us and two of our partner charities, Jumpspace and the Royal British Legion Poppy Factory at the end of July. See this page for more information about the cycle.

This is his training blog, where he will be posting daily updates.

The 2013 Tower 2 Tower plan is now coming together. So far we have one sponsor on board, Metronet (UK).
Metronet (UK) are a Manchester based business specializing in the best of breed wired and wireless technology, and have sponsored Challenge 4 Change now for two years running. Established in 2003, they now supply connectivity to over 20% of Manchester’s top 500 businesses and believe in giving back to the very community in which they started. Their support even extends to joining in the first leg of the Tower 2 Tower challenge from Blackpool to Manchester in July. The relationship between Challenge 4 Change and Metronet (UK) is one we hope will grow as we look for more opportunities in which we can work together in the future.

If you have a company that would like to get involved in a great event and sponsor a fantastic local charity then email dave@tower2tower.org.uk

In terms of my own preparation I am waiting for the temperature to increase a few degrees before getting the bike out! However my training has consisted of 3 days cardio per week, usually an hour to an hour and 10 minutes comprising 30 minutes on the treadmill and 30-40 minutes on the spinning bike in two separate sessions. My non-cardio days are generally a 5 minute warm up on the treadmill followed by a full body weights routine. I have also been limiting the carbs in an attempt to decrease the strain on the bike and so far have managed to come down from just under 18st at Christmas to 15st7lb as of 14th April 2013. I need to lose about another 2st to give my bike a fighting chance!

If you want to get involved in the challenge in any way please email dave@tower2tower.org.uk and if you want to make a donation please do so at www.justgiving.com/djordo
